As Christians we are aliens in this world. We are driven by the Holy Spirit to stand with the most vulnerable. The New Americans Ministry at First Presbyterian Church partners with multiple organizations to care for the immigrant, stranger and foreign born. We are all volunteers working to help our neighbor in a time of need. Join us in learning and serving and transforming our lives.
New Americans reports to a New Americans Ministry Team which in turn reports to the governing board of elders called the session. New Americans Ministry is led by a team of volunteers. New Americans is funded by donations to The First Presbyterian Church of Champaign for the work of New Americans.

Presbyterian Response to Unaccompanied Children
Statement From Stated Clerk Presbyterian Church USAhttp://www.pcusa.org/news/2014/7/7/response-unaccompanied-children/
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Children on the Run
“I am here because the gang threatened me. One of them “liked” me. Another gang member told my uncle that he should get me out of there because the guy who liked me was going to do me harm. In El Salvador they take young girls, rape them and throw them in plastic bags. My uncle told me it wasn’t safe for me to stay there. They told him that on April 3, and I left on April 7. They said if I was still there on April 8, they would grab me, and I didn’t know what would happen. . . . My mother’s plan was always for the four of us – her, my two sisters and me – to be together. But I wasn’t sure I wanted to come. I decided for sure only when the gang threatened me.”
